レイプで男性不信となった女性が死にかけた息子の一人から臓器移植のためクローン製造を頼まれ、引き受ける。<br>
The Finger Ray Vukcevich★★★<br>
指パッチンで対象物を爆破する魔法を使う少年が暴走する。<br>
Gone John Crowley ★★★★★<br>
謎のエイリアンに率いられたエルマーの訪問を受けた主婦が、エルマーに「掃除」を依頼したところ、周囲の存在が次々と消えていく。エルマーの提示する契約書に署名をしたところ、これらの存在が復活し、「心の掃除」が完了するというお話。怖くてオチもきれいで、パーフェクトな短編。名作。</div>

訳しながら読んだが、結構面白い。ホログラムの大統領が各家庭を訪問し、公式会見を行う話。翻訳は百科に掲載済み。この作者の短編はほかに｢棺」というのを読んだことがあるが、手堅く器用な作品を書く印象がある。</div>

囚人虐待殺人で起訴された警部補とその補佐官が逃亡するが、良識の町＜服従＞市に捕われてしまうという話。荒削りであまり出来はよくないと思う。暴力的内容はエリスンらしいが。途中まで訳したが苦痛になって中断中。</div>

冬季に入った疫病のはびこる惑星で、薬品を飲み永遠の眠りにつく人々とそれを見守る役人の話。冷たい死の匂いのする、リー色全開の終末小説。冒頭だけ訳してあるが全部訳したら掲載予定。</div>

ポールという男（普通の人間ではないらしい）との交流を描いた小説。主人公はこの男とホモ関係になるが、最後は普通に結婚し、不死であるはずのポールは奇病にかかり死ぬ。<br>

意志に基づかない行動で危難を逃れる運のよい人々がいるが、それは遺伝子の仕業なのだろうか？ 天使の存在と遺伝子の関係を研究している学者。科学雑誌記者トニー・マネティはその教え子であり、小さいころから類まれなる強運の持ち主である。連作シリーズものの第１弾のようだ。本編はトニーが学会の取材に行き、元主任教授と会い、その理論に関する資料を受け取って戻るまでの話。ストーリー展開らしい展開はないが、上記アイデアの興味で引っ張る作品。</div>

Partial
people（「不公平な人｣｢差別的な人」）という言葉の駄洒落から思いついたと思われるショートショート。文字通り｢部分しかない」人間と言う設定で、「部分人」について論評し批判する演説という形をとって、間接的に差別主義者を皮肉った愉快な作品。</div>

<div class="commenttext">Another Fine Mess Ray Bradbury ★★★★<br>
調べたところ邦訳あり。「またこのざまだ」の題で「瞬きより速く」に収録。<br>
ブラッドベリのすごいところは「全く変化のないところ」だ。継続は力なりというか、出すぎた杭は打たれないと言うか。感傷ノスタルジー系の分かりやすいファンタジーを書かせたら確かに天才。本作は、老婆が昔のハリウッド映画そのままの台詞を外に聞き、映画マニアの友人を呼び出して音の出所を調べに行くという話。単純な話で毎度のブラッドベリ節なオチであるにもかかわらず、普通に感動できる。｢偉大なるマンネリ」というべきだろう。</div>
