とこっちのほうが詳しいんだけど(あの名作「Foresight」も入っておる!)、見にくい。短編の題名の後、収録書籍のリストがあるけどタブの段が同じなのでデータベース編集できないし。

「夜の翼」読み始める、はまってます。シルヴァーバーグやっぱ最高!

「王に対して」は、アンダースンにしては深みのある作品で、気に入った。「説教臭い」とも評される後半の政治主張は、地方分権に近い発想で、ユニークなように見えて実は結構穏健な思想でそれなりに説得力がある。典型的なアイデアストーリーを北欧風冒険物語にするだけの人、というイメージからすると、これは結構異色な作品といえる。ハインライン「宇宙の戦士」「異星の客」とはまた違った意味で楽しめた。それでいて作品世界は紛れもなくアンダースンだし。

「夜の翼」読み終わる。★★★★★、やっぱりシルヴァーバーグはいいですねえ、僕の嗜好にぴったり。中/後半はやや話がたるみがちになるが、何といってもヒューゴー賞をとった第一部が素晴らしすぎる。次々と出てくる奇妙で魅力的で人間臭い素敵なキャラクターたち。遠未来の没落してギルド制に退行した中世的な社会のいかにもといった幻想的な雰囲気。たまんないです。そして何とも言えないほろ苦さをたたたえつつやっぱりラストをハッピーエンドにしてしまうところがシルヴァーバーグらしくてとても好き。ヴァレンタイン以後のシルヴァーバーグははっきりいっていただけないけど、それでも「ビザンチウムへの航海」なんかはこの作品のいいところを引きずってて好きな作品だ(未訳が惜しまれる)。一人称のアイデンティティに悩む主人公に可憐な美少女の連れがいるところといい、中世的な遠未来世界を放浪して回る話といい、よく似ています。個人的には80年代中短編ベスト一〇に入れたい傑作だなあ。
さて、次は「ヒューゴー4」とエリスンだぜ。
